Akshay Kumar To write Book Named ‘Who framed Akshay Kumar’

340x

Finally Akshay Kumar has joined the bandwagon of elite stars who blog to connect with their fans. Here’s what Akki has to say to his fans in his latest entry:

Hey Everyone… It’s me the new Robin Hood of India, I rob from the rich (producers) and give to the poor (my staff), Hehe!! I’m kidding, seriously, it’s comments like these that get me in trouble ;o)…

So did you guys read about my ever so exciting capture by the police, and my wife’s surrender story over my ‘Unbuttoning incident’… My life sounds like a scene out of C.S.I Miami right now I swear, this year is definitely going down in the book of ‘Who framed Akshay Kumar’…

The STORY goes something like, I land back in Bombay and within seconds I’ve had our famous press calling up and reporting that I’ve been captured by the police after running away coz of my supposedly “obscene Levi’s ramp walk”, and my wife has apparently surrendered herself out of fear for her husbands captivity.

Listen I understand journalists need to sell their papers but guys you can’t make a fool out of your readers, that story was worse than a ‘C’ grade drama serial...

When all that really happened was I came back and drove to the Police station myself, signed some papers, joined my hands, wished them all a pleasant day and went home to my family, it was as boring as that… But instead I’ve been made to feel like the Bad Boy criminal of Bombay for the first time in my life...

Now I just need to get a pair of green tights find a bow and arrow, change my name to Robin Hood and I’ll officially be the loved outlaw…

Haha and do you know what I later found out, the guy that placed this ridiculous complaint against me, has actually filed numerous other pointless case’s against other celebrities also. Well I hope he’s happy and has enjoyed his fair share of desperate attention, was it really worth it man…

Now with all that nonsense behind, I want to talk to you about something very serious.

Some of you may already know but one of Bollywood’s  best make-up artists has just been through a spine chilling horrific experience, I don’t want to delve into it too much out of pure respect for her. But her ordeal should be a wake up call for all of us.

Bless her, she was tortured so badly, I was choked up so much when I heard what had happened to her, the whole industry should be thankful she is still here with us now. This brave lady has literally faced death in front of her very eyes, and she is such a wonderful woman, so nice, she’d never hurt anyone.

See, life’s not safe, it’s not fair, it’s scary and unpredictable. People of India please start being more careful, if I read one more rape or murder case in out city I think I’ll cry..

Why can’t Mumbai adopt something from Singapore! The crime rate is so incredibly low there, and it’s only because of the “Death Sentence”. It’s given for a lot of severe crimes, no joke, people are even too scared to spit on the street there for fear of being arrested…

Now I can’t change the law, but I can advise all of you, especially the women of India to please learn self defence, murderers don’t train to become killers, they just get up and commit sinful acts, but you yourselves can train to kill if necessary if you are ever faced with such vicious humans…

Dear God I’m not saying carry a gun, I just think you should all know how to defend yourselves and run before it’s too late and your loved ones are having to explain to your children or your partner that you suffered coz you didn’t know how to fight back…

I didn’t learn martial arts to be some famous dude, I trained because the discipline was something I didn’t want to live life without… Tonight please think about how you’re going to protect yourselves and your family, take care, and live life like you care about it…

Love and Prayers to all of you

Akshay…

Action king Akshay Kumar is losing his Midas touch

03sld1

Though reports that Action king Akshay Kumar is losing his Midas touch with back to back releases delivering a big turkey at the box office, were the talk of the town from quite sometime now, he has survived them in stark silence. It was said that when JUMBO, 8X10 TASVEER and CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA suffered a bad fate at the box office it implied that audiences don’t seem to be very excited anymore with an AKSHAY KUMAR film, yet he remained calm.

Just recently after his ’exciting’ surrender to the police over his obscene ’Unbuttoning incident’, he has chosen to strike back with vengeance & justify his stand on his blog. The macho man retorts saying ’’What was reported sounds like a scene out of C.S.I Miami but what really happened was that I came back to Mumbai and drove to the Police station myself, signed some papers, joined my hands, wished them all a pleasant day and went home to my family, unlike the Bad Boy criminal act that I am made to be doing ’’

At the same time he wishes to drift our attention from this trivial matter blown out of proportion to a ghastly mishap, which occurred with B-town renowned make-up artist Mallika Bhatt, who was robbed off her belongings & tortured badly so much so that the brave lady has literally faced death in front of her very eyes. He gushes ’’Her ordeal should be a wake up call for all of us. Why can’t Mumbai adopt something from Singapore! The crime rate is so incredibly low there, and it’s only because of the ’’Death Sentence’’. Now I can’t change the law, but I can advise all of you, especially the women of India to please learn self defense, I didn’t learn martial arts to be some famous dude, I trained because the discipline was something I didn’t want to live life without.’’ he signs off awakening few women souls to stand up for themselves at all times.

Father of Rubina Ali in anger accusing the filmmaker Danny Boyle

danny-b

’Slumdog Millionaire’ director Danny Boyle, who rushed to India Wednesday to help the film’s child stars, was stunned when a child’s father accused him of ignoring them.

Some of the children have become homeless after civic authorities razed their shanties. Boyle had come down to offer them help.

However, Rafiq Qureshi, Father of Rubina Ali, 9, left their meeting in anger accusing the filmmaker of neglecting them after the film’s global success.

’A house is being provided for the kids...we have been listening this for the last five months...I don’t see any house coming our way. The shanty that we were living in has already been razed...where are we getting a house from?

’If they are providing us a house, when are they going to do it? Our kids are literally living on the road now,’ an exasperated Qureshi told a news channel later.

’Slumdog’ producer Christian Colson also participated in the meeting held at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences on the outskirts of the city.

’We are looking for a legal accommodation that should be held by the trust (Jai Ho) to ensure the safety of these kids and it would be properly monitored as well,’

a calm Boyle told the reporters.

The kids including Azharuddin Ismail M. Shaikh, 10, the main child star of the movie, apart from Rubina, were both thrown on the streets after Mumbai civic authorities demolished their shanties May 14, terming the slum unauthorised.

The producers of the multiple Oscar-award wining underdog drama had earlier announced a setting up Jai Ho Trust to look after the two child stars and ensure that they receive quality education and a house to live in.

Riya Sen is happy to be back in the limelight after a long time

Riya20

Off late the hot Riya Sen seems to have become a favourite with the former showman, Subhash Ghai. After the middling success of the Mukta Arts’ APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY, Riya is once again essaying an important role in the banner’s upcoming venture, PAYING GUEST.

Quite naturally, Riya is happy to be back in the limelight after a long time. Her last film was a multi-starrer, HEROES, where she had a very short role. But Riya is very elated about her character in her latest Paritosh Painter directed venture. She plays a modern and glamorous girl called Arpita, whose character is very sensitive but at the same time suspicious and quite conservative. She is always suspicious about her boyfriend and keeps doubting him all the time, a la Bebo in GOLMAAL RETURNS! Riya is confident that even though her role is short, it would not be a blink and a miss appearance, as it is very important to the narrative. Playing contrasting characters was a challenge and the director, Paritosh Painter helped her get it right.

Well, Riya has been the lucky mascot for many a film, and here’s hoping that her lucky charm rubs off on Ghai’s Mukta Arts Ltd.’s PAYING GUEST , as they are in real need of one, after the debacle of YUVVRAAJ.

Preity is looking forward to doing quality work

preity_

Priety Zinta dimpled her way into the hearts of million of fans with the Perk commercial directed by Shekhar Kapoor more than a decade back.

Today she considered amongst the most respected actress of Bollywood as she has made a place for herself as one of the best actresses today.

With films like Dil Se, Kya Kehna (her first full fledged performance as a complete actress) Armaan, Dil Chahta Hai, Koi Mil Gaya, Kal Ho Naa Ho and Heroes, the actress has proved that she is not just a pretty face but a talented actress too.

With films like Veer Zaara and now Videsh, Preity showed her detractors that she was not her to just run around trees but also give powerful performances.

A source close to the talented beauty tells us, "Right now Preity may not have signed many films apart from Yash Chopra’s forthcoming venture and Sohail Khan’s Main Aur Mrs Khanna but the actress is playing it pretty safe and accepting only roles which can do justice to the talent that she is blessed with.

Since she has come to a stage where she knows that she has had a long and outstanding innings to play. She has now moved on to IPL and made a mark there is no looking back for the actress.

Preity is looking forward to doing quality work and is here to stay."

Indeed, from the chirpy bubbly youngster we saw in Soldier and Dil Se, she has now matured into a fine actress.

Bollywood filmmakers to share their views For Neetu Chandra photo shoot

normal_

Neetu Chandra’s  ’woman-on-woman’ photo shoot has literally created a storm. Leave aside the protests (or the lack of them), the fact remains that the pictures have been one and all (though quite a few also deny having looked at them, but more on that later) and the Garam Masala girl who got ’lucky’ with an unlucky number ’13’ quite recently has now moved up from a ’Traffic Signal’ to Page 1 across National Dailies as well as prime slots on news channels.

Joginder Tuteja catches up with quite a few industry men and tries to gauge their reaction on Neetu’s photo shoot. While doing so, we came across an interesting trend. While majority of top line actors (names withheld) either refrained from commenting at all or evaded the query by stating - ’I am yet to look at the pictures’, quite a few Bollywood filmmakers were game to share their views around the photo shoot. This is what they had to say:

Suparn Verma - "More woman power! She looks fabulous and the pictures are aesthetically done. I think the moral police should take a nap!"

Ken Ghosh - "It’s quite an interesting concept! Great going!"

Rohit Jugraj - "I think it’s very awesome and gutsy on Neetu’s part to go ahead with such bold and sensuous pictures. Times are changing and we should pay heed.

They say cinema is a reflection of the changing society and if the world can have a festival like Moondance (a gay and dance film festival), we can at least celebrate freedom of expression in cinema. I have always had a script about two women, a pack of cigarettes and a road trip in mind, though that script of mine is not about lesbian characters but does have an intimate moment between the girls.

Photo shoots like Neetu’s only prove to me that audience is ready, howsoever niche it may be. But the question is - ’Are we filmmakers ready to handle such themes deftly with maturity and sensitively?"

Randeep Hooda - "Neetu’s pictures are very hot. It’s in some form or the other every man’s fantasy. It’s about time we started opening up about it (smiles). It’s a brave shoot so cheers to her!"

Jag Mundhra - "I just checked one such picture on the net. I think it is quite beautiful and provocative. Her body language is defiant; celebrating raw female sexuality. It says - ’As an artist I am ready to push the boundaries’. It defies the viewer to do the same. I think it is very symbolic than sexy, just like the PETA ads."

Rahul Dholakia - "I saw the shoot, and while I thought it was an interesting concept and a good marketing tool, I don’t think we should give it any more importance than that. If this picture is generating any kind of controversy, I don’t think it should. It’s bold but not obscene; it’s about two women, maybe lesbians. So what?"

Piyush Jha - "Everyday I get surprised at how much further and further we are pushing the envelope of morality in India. While I am not aesthetically riveted by the pictures, I am impressed by the challenge it throws at the so called ’norms’ of our society."

Madhu Mantena - "I am in London and haven’t seen the pictures yet. However, would like to meet them together!"

Vivek Agnihotri - "We are living in time of media clutter and to get mind share, media must titillate; so a shoot like this is nothing novel.

Also competition is so tough in our industry that lots of people are willing to go to any extent to be noticed. What can be a better way than shock the audiences? The picture meets both these aspirations. Neetu is talented and I am sure she is capable of shocking more with her talent and soon she will realize it."

Shirish Kunder - "Awesome. In fact I thought it was a little restrained. They should have gone out a little more."

Navdeep Singh - "Girl-girl action is always very welcome. These pictures seemed tasteful enough. There is a need and space for some eroticism in our lives. And when it’s girl-on-girl, it’s even better!!!"

Robby Grewal - "Neetu has liked doing the shoot and I have liked looking at the pictures. So where does the question of protests or morality come into picture?

At the end of the day when an artist and a consumer are comfortable with something, there should not be a problem with everyone else.

And come on, it’s not the first time that such pictures have come on print, so why are we making a hue and cry?"

Nisha Kothari to impress everyone with her forthcoming flick ‘Agyaat’

Changing her name did not help Priyanka Kothari aka Nisha Kothari much. She was last seen in a tantalizing item number with Fardeen Khan in ‘Darling’. Her delayed release ‘Go’ went unnoticed and without creating any stir.

Now, it seems she is all set to impress everyone with her forthcoming flick ‘Agyaat’ where she plays the solo female lead. She also has a sizzling dance number in the film titled ‘Kiss Mix’.

“Yes, that’s my song in Agyaat. Don’t you like the sound of ‘Kiss Mix’? I find it quite cute actually; it is just one of it’s own kinds,” says Priyanka.

When the shooting of AGYAAT  had come to a standstill, only a few scenes involving Priyanka were waiting to be shot. The earlier plans were to have only song to be picturised but later ‘Kiss Mix’ was added as an after thought.

“This is one song which has excited me so much after a very long time. And before you call it as an item or a promotional number, let me clear this at the very onset that ‘Kiss Mix’ would be very much a part of the film”, says Priyanka.

Who would dare to say NO to Mallika Sherawat

mallika

It was considered an unwritten rule in Bollywood that when Mallika Sherawat demands something she gets it. There aren’t many men in the industry who would dare to say NO to Mallika Sherawat.

Remember even Big B had accepted her offer to go for jogging in slow motion on National Television. But well there has been an exception now! It is learnt from my industry sources that talented actor Kay Kay Menon turned down the role that Mallika offered him in her home production Hisss.

Reveals our source, "Mallika is a genuine fan of Kay Kay’s work, especially his intensity.

Together they had worked in Sanjay Chhel’s Maan Gaye Moghal-E-Azam and in her promotional interviews for the film she had heaped huge praises on him.

So when she was deciding upon the casting for an important role in her film that required a very intense actor, naturally Kay Kay’s name cropped in her mind. She then sent her team over to him with the script.

After few days Kay Kay called Mallika and told her that he found the script interesting and that he was confident that she would make a good film but he cannot see himself in that part that she has offered him in the film.

It is then learnt that Mallika who is not used to hearing a NO hung up on him in the middle of the conversation even before he could give reasons for not doing the film."

Well just imagine what would have happened had he said that on her face...a HISSSS???

When contacted Shilpa explained, “I was just not prepared. It was an international  platform, not some village nautanki.

I had to be fully ready. And I just didn’t get time to rehearse. So I regretfully had to say no. But I’d rather not give anything less than my best when I’m representing my country.”

Shilpa says she was happy to be just a spectator at the finals. “So what if my team wasn’t playing. I think I’m sporting enough to enjoy the game as just a part of the audience.”

Kareena Kapoor got a taste of the love of her die hard fans

15slid1

Ahmedabad was indeed a memorable trip for Kareena Kapoor who got a taste of the love of her die hard fans who rushed towards the stage while she was performing on a medley of her hit songs at a show in the city.

The performance was at Karnavati Club for the event organised by producer Vashu Bhagnani to promote his son Jackky’s debut “Kal Kissne Dekha” which also stars Kareena.

A shaken Vashu Bhagnani said: “It’s true. Ahmedabad went crazy for Kareena. We expected a huge turn-out at the Karnavati Club, but not this much…30,000 people showed up! And when Kareena came on stage they lost control. About 400 people rushed to the stage. Fortunately we whisked her out of the back entrance. So nothing untoward happened.”

Bhagnani says he is indebted to Kareena. “She took on these frenzied fans for my son’s sake. Who says this film industry is heartless? Kareena is all heart.”

Vashu was so shaken by the Ahmedabad incident that he hesitated asking Kareena to be part of the next promotional show in Delhi May 27, but Kareena is all sport for it. Says Kareena: “Yeah it did get pretty tricky at a point. Yeh sab hota hai. It was my first visit to Ahmedabad. I performed a medley of my best songs choreographed by Remo. It was for Vashu-ji’s son. How can I forget he gave me my first big hit ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai’? When his son is entering films it’s my duty to support him.”

Though the fan frenzy scared her, it came as a pleasant surprise when a large number of little girls descended at the performance venue dressed as her character Geet in hit film “Jab We Met ”.

“It simply zapped me. I completely forgot the heat of Ahmedabad when I saw those girls. It will be a long time before I’m allowed to forget Geet in ‘Jab We Met’,” Kareena said.

Sallu would willingly welcome SRK On 'Dus Ka Dum'

1473183

Sallu’ s ’Dus Ka Dum’ which is on the verge of launching its second season has become the new talk of town. More so because ardent buffs are eager to see the star-studded turnout, as its being touted that the macho man of Bollywood has refrained from inviting his close film-associates to the show. Apparently it is a result of certain itsy-bitsy tiffs between Sallu and show producers.

Now that celebrities from various arenas of tinsel town are soon to step on the sets of this stunningly entertaining reality game show by choice of the show producers, the latest grapevine doing the rounds suggest SRK, the undisputed Baadshah of B-town will undeniably be one of the contenders.

Recently when Sallu was probed on its likelihood, after unsuccessful attempts of skipping this one, he gave in to say that burying the hatchet he on his show. Also adding, SRK would be fortunate to share screen space with him.

Well if this turns out to be true, atleast fans across the world will rejoice to see the long-lost buddies once again together, if not the second season of ’Dus Ka Dum’!

Fardeen and Aishwarya exchanged notes like two wounded war veterans

Jai-Vee

The Padma Shri pair Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan rushed back from different parts of the world to resume shooting for Vipul Shah’s Action Replay in Karjat on the outskirts of Mumbai at Nitin Desai’s studio.

But while Akshay proceeded straight from the airport on landing from Singapore Aishwarya on landing from Cannes took a day off on Monday to spend with her parents before leaving for Karjat.

“It was a long spell. Shooting in Karjat for prolonged periods is not new to Aishwarya. For Jodhaa-Akbar she was stationed in Karjat for so long that it became her second home. But now circumstances have changed.

After her father’s illness, Aishwarya doesn’t like to be away from Mumbai for prolonged periods. Even when she was shooting in the jungles of Kerala for Mani Ratnam Aishwarya made sure she visited Mumbai to be with her father.

Though she never lets it show in her work being away from home is very difficult for her now and would like to shoot as much as possible in Mumbai. Ironically almost all her films are being shot outside the city. ”

Her father’s health scare has bonded Aishwarya with others who are similarly traumatized by terminal illness in the industry.

Says a source, “Aishwarya kept track of Feroz Khan’s health through Fardeen and when he passed away she was deeply affected. At the prayer meeting Fardeen and Aishwarya exchanged notes like two wounded war veterans.”

Father’s health is now Aishwarya’s primary cocern. On landing from Cannes on Monday Aishwarya decided to break her journey to spend a day with her parents.

“It was something I had to do. I did it more for myself than for them, ” she said before taking off to Karjat.

Salman Khan 'confirmed’ to his friendship with Claudia Ciesla

Claudia Ciesla

Heart throb and the darling of millions of women, Bollywood badshah Salman Khan has officially acknowledged German supermodel and Hollywood actress Claudia Ciesla as his "special friend".

According to a report in a national Kolkatta-based newspaper, Salman Khan has ’confirmed’ to the Indian press his friendship with Claudia and has even introduced her to his family’.

According to sources, Claudia is a very private person. She will never talk about her personal life. She refused to comment on her ‘relationship’ with Salman and even forbade her spokesperson from breathing a word about anything to the media. But now Salman cleared the air in a candid and straight-from-the-heart interview to a Kolkatta paper.

Claudia Ciesla’s spokesperson, publicist and Manager for India said, “Claudia has been wrongly understood by the Indian Media. She is not a topless or nude model. It was only once at the beginning of her career about 4 years ago - like many Indian actresses - that she posed topless for a very prestigious magazine.

It was a very artistic and classy shoot.Claudia has never posed nude and will vowed never to do any nude shoots. All the other photos that show Claudia nude or topless are fake and digitally altered. We will sue anyone who claims that Claudia is a topless or nude model."

Speaking to the journalist from Kolkatta via email, Claudia said, "I love the Indian Culture, ethos, and traditions. I respect all Indian religions. I am God-willing planning to permanently settle in India.

I am not a nude or topless model but a very serious professional who has done some very good work in the west." She also elaborated that she represents Bollywood fashion designer Umair Zafar’s ethnic and Indian fashion in Europe.

Claudia has also confirmed that she will participate in the Living Talent Face of India, beauty pageant and fashion show to be held in Mumbai in June and also walk the ramp for a charity event in support of Mumbai’s street children.

According to her spokesperson, "Claudia is very sensitive towards Indian culture. She immediately consented to do the talent contest and beauty pageant LIVING TALENT FACE OF INDIA event which will contribute a substantial sum of money for the benefit of street children.

According to the report in the Kolkatta newspaper, Salman invited Claudia to his home, introduced Claudia to his family. "Claudia is a very nice girl. I have introduced her to my family, " Salman Khan said casually when queried about his ’relationship’ with Claudia.

Filling in the blanks from Germany, Claudia said, "I met his wonderful family - brothers, sister and his darling and handsome father Salim. They are a very warm and friendly family.

All very down to earth. Salman is a real man. He has a heart of gold. He is fearless - not scared to admit his friendship with anyone, unlike some other male actors and directors in Bollywood. Salman Khan is my hero, " said a blushing Claudia.

Clarifying about Claudia’s meeting with Abhishek Bachchan at Cannes, her spokesperson said, “It is a fact that Claudia and Abhishek met and chatted for a while. But it was a formal discussion though Abhishek was quite friendly. The photos were not just ‘fan pix’ as made out by some media persons and publications.

The worse for the glamorous Bollywood owners in IPL

b-IPL-t

The date 20th May will go down as one of the worse for the glamorous Bollywood owners of the two most happening franchisees of the Indian Premier League , going on in South Africa. The franchisees in question were the Rajasthan Royals, owned by the beautiful Shilpa Shetty and Kings XI Punjab, whose owner is the pretty and perky, Preity Zinta.

Cricket lovers and fans across the world who were following these matches were in for a shock as both the teams bowed out of the contest by losing their respective matches yesterday, without even putting up a fight. The worst off is Shilpa Shetty here as her team Rajasthan Royals (who were the champions last year), is out of the semi-final race. Preity Zinta’s team has very slight hopes of a semi-final berth. And that will depend on how other teams perform. Preity’s team too had a good IPL last year as it had reached the semi-finals. So, on the whole the second season of IPL has proved to be a lackluster one for Bollywood owners, much similar to the box-office fate of the films, this year.

The only silver lining in the clouds yesterday (20th May) was the win by Shah Rukh Khan’s team, Kolkata Knight Riders over Shilpa Shetty’s Rajasthan Royals. But even that was not much to cheer about as Shah Rukh’s team is already out of semi-final due to the bad patch which ended with last two successive wins. The only good thing was that the KKR team salvaged its pride with the two wins.

Here’s hoping for a great comeback for all the Bollywood owners at IPL next season.

5ya5fyu

Imagine the newly toned size-zero B-Town beauty, shimmy her bare belly while her slender figure sways sensuously. Take a deep breath, guys! You will have to wait to watch Bebo’s sexy gyrations as she is yet to perfect her moves of belly dancing for her sizzling performance at IIFA awards happening next month in Macau.

For that matter, we hear, Bebo will start taking lessons from Shiamak Davar (the choreographer of her act).

She scorched the screens with Shahrukh in the hot number ’Marjaani’ for the movie BILLU,  where she is dressed like a sexy Arabian dancer, now she will recreate the magic on stage with a Turkish-Arabian feel. Costumes for the same will be designed by ace designer Manish Malhotra where in one of the songs, she will be dressed like an Arabian princess with gold harem pants made of silk, satin and lace.

Amitabh Bachchan has lambasted the present electronic media in His Blog

amitabh

After returning from attending the funeral of his old mentor Prakash Mehra , Amitabh Bachchan through his blog has lambasted the present electronic media that was present there to cover the event.

Just a few days back after attending Feroz Khan’s condolence meet, the ageing super star had rightfully vented out his frustration on the ever intruding electronic media members who at such events forget that sensitivity is expected during such occasions.

States Big B, “Prakash ji’s eldest son Sumeet returned from USA this morning and the cremation took place by the afternoon. Abhishek  and I attended it, but the behavior of the electronic media at the crematorium was just disgusting.

No respect shown for the sensitivity of the occasion. No regard for the moment and no ethics at all in maintaining some decorum for this very private and sombre ritual.

All they were interested in was in getting that ‘bite’ or shoving their cameras inches away from your nose, at a moment when one desired peace and quiet. Shameful. But what of some of the mourners, if they can be called that!

They were no less. Pushing and shoving to get a position behind or near about the celebrity, so the cameras can catch them.”

He ends up with with saying, “I shall not dwell on this anymore. I may just burst a blood vessel.”

Mallika Sherawat slithering in mud and becoming a deadly snake

m2

Has Mallika Sherawat given a nude scene in her upcoming Hollywood film, Hissss is the first question that comes to mind after watching its trailer. Just recently, the first promo of the much in news anticipated Mallika Sherawat starrer Hissss is out and we must admit it does make for an interesting watch.

The promo gives the impression that it is a no nonsense thriller that is certainly not meant for the faint hearted as it has plenty of blood and gore. A surefire Adults Only certificate cannot be ruled out from Indian Censor Board.

The trailer shows Mallika Sherawat slithering in mud and becoming a deadly snake. She is shown covered in a body suit that fits her like second skin and during many times while watching the trailer it gives the impression that Mallika hasn’t worn anything.

There are sequences shown with many murders happening. In one scene Mallika is shown slithering up a tree and baring her fangs and shocks your wits. Then in another scene she is shown transformed into a helpless woman. Also seen in the trailer are the film’s other Indian stars, Irrfan Khan and Divya Dutta.

The plot of Hissss revolves around a snake woman played by Mallika Sherawat looking for revenge.

Irrfan and Divya Dutta play a couple and reportedly there is a very passionately shot love making scene between the two. The film appears high on special effects.

A R Rahman says no thanks to Farhan’s sore throat

1468149

Farhan Akhar’s song for Tony D’Souza’s Blue that composer A R Rahman has decided to record at the last minute, might get stalled by a bit, no thanks to Farhan’s sore throat.

Farhan has been shooting for his latest starrer Kartik Versus Kartik in a dry humid studio.

“And I’m hugely allergic to dust. My throat has gone bad at a time when I least needed my voice to go bad. Working in dusty studios and singing just don’t go hand-in-hand. I guess I’ll just have to live with it.”

There were no plans to use Farhan’s vocals in Blue. But then Rahman who really liked Shankar-Ehsan-Loy’s tunes in Rock On wanted toincorporate Farhan’s vocals into the Blue.

“Rahman has approached me and yes, I’m singing for him. It’s a club-based song and I guess my voice goes well with the smoky mood.”

Farhan admits it’s a leap ahead for him as a singer. “In Rock On I sang for myself. Now I’ll get to sing for someone else, and that too a song composed by Rahman.Yeah I guess it’s a leap forward.”

But for that Farhan will have to first wait for his throat to be fully functional again. “Kartik Versus Kartik is my most gruelling role to date. It requires a lot of physical action,” says Farhan.

Aishwarya reportedly called Sonam’s statements on the party

According to the official announcement form L’Oreal on May 11th, Sonam Kapoor was supposed to walk the red carpet for the company at Cannes. Their announcement read:

“Raising the toast to celebrate the association, Sonam Kapoor was welcomed as the youngest member to join the L’Oreal Paris dream team that includes awe-inspiring beauties such as Aishwarya Rai (Bachchan), Penelope Cruz, Naomi Lenoir, Andie MacDowell, Beyonce Knowles, Laetitia Casta, Kerry Washington, Milla Jovovich, Michelle Yeoh, Eva Longoria and Scarlett Johansson. 2009 will be a highlight year for the L’Oreal Paris brand in India as both its spokespersons - the iconic Aishwarya Rai and Sonam will represent Indian beauty and talent oversees at the Cannes Film Festival alongside other members of the dream team.”

However on May 12th they released another statement that read, “We do not want to take part in or encourage any controversy involving our spokespeople. There were adverse reports in certain sections of media after some comments by Sonam Kapoor, which were presented out of context.

Following this, in order to avoid further escalation, we have advised Sonam not to go to Cannes as was planned earlier, bearing in mind that there would be more interesting opportunities for future appearances in Europe for her.”

Sonam had expressed her joy about the fact saying that It was a dream come true for her to walk the red carpet amongst bevy of beauties like Aishwarya Rai, Eva Longoria and Penelope Cruz for L’Oreal at Cannes Film Festival 2009. But now, Sonam has not been invited by the brand but is there with her father Anil Kapoor as a visitor.

With all her dreams shattered, there has been an array of speculations as to why Sonam was ousted from walking the red carpet at the last moment. Some say that Ash is the reason behind this. Ash always felt that she and only she was the international face of the brand and when she came to know about Sonam’s walking the red carpet at Cannes, she put her foot down due to which the company had to do away with Sonam at the event. At the Cannes festival press conference, Aishwarya reportedly called Sonam’s statements on the party day as juvenile and irresponsible.

However Ash’s spokesperson denies Ash’s involvement in the whole issue, saying, “She (Aishwarya) did not even know that Sonam was going to be at Cannes because she was there for just two days (May 13-14) where her days were packed with back-to-back interactions with the international media, fashion shoots for various European fashion magazines and other business meetings besides attending all the events at the festival.”

The reason for Madhavan opting out In Jaya Bachchans Movie

madhava

As per the original cast, Madhavan  was supposed to play Ayesha Takiya’s supportive husband who encourages her to ’adopt’ an abandoned mother (Jaya Bachchan). But now the actor, who is busy shuttling between Chennai and Mumbai attending to various Tamil and Hindi projects, has said no to " Chassni ".

Apparently the long line-up of lady performers from Jaya and Ayesha Takiya to Raveena Tandon and Urvashi Sharma, put Madhavan off. He was left wondering what he would be doing in a ladies’ picture.

But the actor gives another reason for opting out.

"I loved the script and I really wanted to act with Jayaji whom I admire a lot. But the producers were undecided about their dates till the last minute. And I had too many assignments. My priority right now is Raj Kumar Hirani’s ’3 Idiots’," said Madhavan.

Sharma has now begun shooting without a leading man but she is desperately seeking a hero.

"Once a film has so many ladies in the cast a hero is as hard to find as mangoes in the desert," said a female member of the cast.

She unintentionally created quite a stir when she escorted Salman Khan during the IIFA Awards a year ago.

Ever since, there has been speculation that Govinda ’s beautiful daughter Narmmadaa Ahuja would enter Bollywood. Putting rumours to rest, it’s now clear that the girl will soon follow her dad’s footsteps into the world of cinema.

Narmmadaa is said to be a bubbly and spunky girl, full of enthusiasm and go-getter spirit.

Though she carries off Indian as well as western looks and styles almost effortlessly, she might best fit in a glamour girl image. What’s more! The girl has already been signed by a famous producer, whose name will be revealed only next week.

Meanwhile, numerologist Niraj Mancchanda (who has added the extra ‘m’ and ‘a’ in Narmmadaa ’s name) says, “Watch out for her. She will get a lot of offers after August.” Let’s see if his crystal ball of numbers creates more magic.

The Khans are best known for their hospitality

case16

The Khans are best known for their hospitality and Salman Khan demonstrated this at the shoot of Vipul Shah’s film London Dreams in London. When he realised that the entire unit was bored of western food and was missing homemade food, he called his cook, Jafferbhai , all the way from Mumbai to London. Jafferbhai is especially known for his delectable biryani.

Vipul Shah confirmed and said, We all were shooting in St James Court and we were really bored of the continental food. We used to order food from Indian pockets in South Hall but there was nothing like home-made food. We had to stay there for three months and everyone was craving for homemade food. That’s when Salman called his cook, Jafferbhai , treating us all to ghar ka khana for a large part of the schedule. Incidentally, Salman’s driver was a Pakistani and he was also a good cook so we handed him the kitchen department during the schedule.

Prakash Mehra Hindi film industry’s golden hour has passed Away

prakash

Prakash Mehra the man who contributed immensely into making Big B the living legend that he is, died at a private hospital in Mumbai at 8 am on May 17. The cremation will happen on May 18 because the family is awaiting the arrival of his elder son Sumeet, who is currently in the US. “He had been diagnosed with a severe lung infection,’’ says a family source.

The 70-year-old film-maker (born July 13, 1939 in Uttar Pradesh) was one of the leading lights of the Indian film industry having made some of the biggest and most talked about Hindi film hits including - Hasina Maan Jayegi, Mela, Zanjeer, Haath Ki Safaai, Hera-Pheri, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Namak Halal, Laawaris and Sharaabi.

Mehra began his career as a production controller. It was in 1968 that he found his place in the sun as an independent filmmaker with Hasina Maan Jayegi. In the 70s, both he and his lead actor Amitabh Bachchan were immortalised when Zanjeer released. After that there was no looking back for either the man or his Frankenstein (Bachchan).

Mehra’s office at a hotel in Juhu and his dubbing theatre, that carried huge framed photographs of Amitabh Bachchan in Namak Halal, were ‘the power centres’ in Bollywood right through the 70s and 80s.
The filmmaker, always dressed in white trousers and a shirt with matching white shoes, would arrive at his office only after lunch time because he of his laid back lifestyle.

Absolutely intolerant of stars, Mehra never indulged in sycophancy and would often call a superstar a spade. “I’m a self-made man, I see no reason to fade up to anyone,’’ he’d say to media members who were a 4 o’clock audience with him.

Mehra also crossed swords with Manmohan Desai, the other big force in Big B’s life, and the media had a field day when the two big daddies of Bollywood had a volley of words in print. Things came to a head when during the publicity campaigns of Mard (Manmohan Desai) and Sharaabi (Prakash Mehra) Desai said, “Only a mard can make a Mard; and a sharaabi can make a Sharaabi.’’

As luck would have it, Sharaabi was a huge box office hit; and Mehra then got back at Desai in his own way. While death seems an inappropriate occasion to raise past rubbles; the whole idea of this exercise is to show what a spirited man Prakash Mehra was.

In recent years he had become a recluse. A close friend of his son says, “Uncle didn’t come out of his bedroom for days on end. And, he rarely interacted with any outsiders.’’

One of the reasons for Mehra’s despondency was the fact that his wife lay in coma for years on end, and passed away a couple of years ago. All through her illness, the filmmaker cared for her selflessly. His sons Amit and Puneet who live in Mumbai look after their father’s business. With Manmohan Desai and Prakash Mehra passing away; the Hindi film industry’s golden hour has passed.

The official website of Kites has been launched

Kites has made it to the Cannes Film Festival and Hrithik  and Barbara are all set to walk the red carpet on Sunday. The official website of Kites has been launched. Take a look:

I could watch kites flying forever up in the sky, free, dancing in the sky with no worries...

Like two lovers, they meet, they fight, they embrace, they almost become one...

But it is not the will of the kites that makes them dance in the sky...

Someone else always holds the strings…

You must have noticed that there is no sign of Kangana Ranaut at all in the film’s first look, which focuses only on Hrithik and Barbara, who make a scorching hot couple. We wonder if she is the surprise package of the film.

Shah Rukh Khan has inspired by Telugu actor

shahruk

Shah Rukh Khan’s cool Quickgun Murugun act in Om Shanti Om has inspired Telugu actor Rajendra Prasad to do a film on SRK’s character! A spoof, the film will be in English.

“The film is targeted at young audiences. We are exploring the possibility of building it into a franchisee brand,” said Vijay Singh of Fox Star Studios.

In Farah Khan’s blockbuster OSO, Shah Rukh played a popular actor. One of his roles was a South Indian film, where he fights a fake tiger, and mouths dialogues like superstar Rajnikanth. Though it lasted barely five minutes, people simply loved it. In fact, his ‘Yana rascala’ became a huge hit.

Read excerpts from Celina's Blog on gay rights

celina

Read excerpts from Celina’s  Blog on gay rights and her experiences that led her to take up the cause.

My boyfriend was gay

I was 16 and it was my first time at a nightclub with my friends. I met this really good-looking man, who was a lot older - by about almost 18 years - and we became really good friends. I loved spending time with him and when he told me ‘I love you’, I thought I loved him too.

At 16, coming from a small town and a protected Army background, I didn’t know any better. I guess I also liked the idea of falling in love.

I had no idea of relationships either. It didn’t strike me as odd that my boyfriend liked to meet in public where he could be seen with me and would get angry if I bumped into him while he was with his friends.

Gradually, my friends began to tell me that he was known to be gay. I fought with them and told them that just because he was different it didn’t mean he was gay.

Gradually, the arguments started, and then physical abuse, when I asked him if he was seeing another woman. I had no reason to believe he was keeping a secret. However, one Sunday, I decided to land up at his place, that’s when I saw him with his ‘best friend’.

I lived in denial for the next few months. Then came a phase when I prayed to God to make him ‘normal’. I got severely bulimic… I was a complete mess. There would be times when I would worry that I shouldn’t put on weight or I would see him with his best-friend and come back, eat and throw up.

My close friends and my brother made me realise he was gay. That’s when I finally stopped fighting. There was another phase of physical abuse too and I finally decided that I was young, doing well for myself, had a good family and friends and there was no reason for me to take this.

I moved out of Kolkata and went on to become Miss India and then entered films, and we lost touch. One day, he phoned me and said, “Silly Billy (that’s what he called me), are you still mad at me?

Please don’t be, God made me like this.” And, I realised he was right. How did I forgive him the physical abuse? I just did. My life was good, I had met a Swiss diplomat who I was then in love with, and could look beyond those times.

Besides, I then started seeing him as a person. We became the greatest of friends and when he passed away after a bulimia-induced heart attack, he left me his mother’s jewellery that would have ideally gone to a wife. He always said that had he married, it would’ve been to me. He did love me, in his own way.

His end was tragic, he got into wrong company, underwent tremendous depression, was a victim of gaybashing, alcohol and drugs took a toll on his life.

He was also in relationships where he was physically abused, something I’ve seen a lot of my gay friends go through. And, they can’t turn to family for help. I found out all this only when he was no more, through friends.

Despite my lows in my first brush with love, I never blamed the gay community as I believe that the kind of person you are has nothing to do with your sexuality.

While he was the man who virtually ruined me when I was young, another man who nurtured me was Probir Kumar De, my first make-up person.

Probir da was transgendered, wore a salwar kameez and fought his own battles as he rose from his middle-class roots, braving taunts of ‘hijra’. When I didn’t have money as a student in Kolkata, he would buy me lipsticks.

He, along with a friend, entered me for the Femina Miss India contest without my knowing about it. He considered me his daughter.

I had another gay friend, a designer, who was beaten up at a nightclub. My gay friends have always been there for me and there’s nothing I’ve been able to do for them.

Recently, when I flew to Bangalore for Feroz Khan’s funeral, I was in a fragile state. My gay friend, who knew exactly how I would be feeling, flew down to Bangalore, without letting me know, met me at the airport to accompany me and give me strength.

I wanted to gift Probir da a car for his birthday but he died three months before that. I always promised myself that I would take up the cause of gay rights when I could and that’s what I’m doing now, despite the hate mail that I receive.

Ironically, a lot of the mails I get are from the youth. I want to ask them if being modern means fighting with your parents to be able to go to the nightclub, wear Western clothes, be able to smoke or drink? When it comes to gay rights, why are you still living in the previous century?

For me, gay rights are about human rights. And, I don’t care if people call me gay!

Priyanka Chopra was questioned what’s her take on Kareena

priyank01

Many media channels do precisely look to pull-on something more interesting from celebrities by shooting polemical questions. Here’s a stark exemplification and Priyanka was smart enough on reverting with a sassy answer. Priyanka Chopra was questioned what’s her take on Kareena saying that she and Shahid are unremittingly using her name for their film’s (Kaminey) publicity?

Ah! Priyanka was so cool in responding, “Kaminey is made by one of the best filmmakers (Vishal Bharadwaj) of tinsel town and churned by a great banner. Shahid Kapoor does dual role and me as a Maharastrian woman. I think the film doesn’t need much more publicity than this.”

Kareena, are you listening to this? Preferably, these two filles should be waiting for the box office warfare as their films ‘Kambhakth Ishq’ and ‘Kaminey’ hits the screens on alternative weeks in August. Possibly, the producers-multiplex owners tiff may get the releases postponed furthermore.
