Bollywood's most memorable dialogues Of The Year 2008

Some of them are genuinely funny while others are downright tacky. Good or bad, we list some dialogues that stayed with us after we walked out of the theatre. We think you might want to watch some of the movies again after reading this.
Dostana: This movie has plenty of genuine gems. The boldest one is when Abhishek meets John for the first time and says, while writhing suggestively, "Oh Kunal, Oh Kunal, Kunal, Kunal! I feel like I know you man, pehli baar kissi ka naam apne naam se zyaada suna hai". Then the other scene where John shouts out, "Hum Gay hai, yeh mera boyfriend hai!" and when Kirron Kher, who plays Abhi’s mom blesses
the ’couple’ and says, "Phullo phallo" and then realizes they are gay and sighs, "Khair chhodo."

Ghajini: The first half is laugh-out-loud hilarious as the love story between Asin and Aamir develops. The love story Asin fabricates between her character Kalpana and Aamir’s Sanjay Singhania is filled with details. She goes, "Hum Pehli baar Dilli aiport pe mile the, main jaanti nahi thi ki who Sanjay Singhani hai, pur waqt airport pe who mujhe ullu ki tarah ghoor raha tha .Phir flight mein mere paas aake baitha aur kaha Hi I am Sanjay Singhania toh meine bhi bola Hi. Phir Dilli se Mumbai poore raaste uska FM radio chalu tha, kachar, kachar, kachar. Phir suddenly bola, I love you, mujhse shaadi Karogi? Maine bola bachhoo, shaadi byaah ke baate hawa mein thodi the ki jaati hai? Maine bola no, usna bola please, maine bola no, usne bola please, phir maine bola OK. Agar koi ek taang pe khada ho jaayeto tara to aayegi hee." And then she tells Aamir, unaware of the fact that he is THE Sanjay Singhania, "Air Voice ka Mobile hai, dabba phone hai, main kitna kehti hoon Sanjay se, thoda antenna ghuma kar dekho."

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi: the dialogues are silly and sweet. How can we forget Raj’s (Shah Rukh’s) very filmi dialogues when he speaks to Taani (Anushka) like: "I am Raj, naam toh suna hoga," then "Hum hain raahi pyaar ke, phir milenge chalte chalte" (which are titles of Aamir, Salman and SRK’s films respectively) and "Hello Dear, Raj is here, no fear!"

Fashion: It is a Madhur Bhandarkar movie so how can the dialogues lack any punch? When Kittu Gidwani, the head of a modeling agency asks Priyanka, "Tum model banna chahti ho?" so Priyanka confidently replies, "Nahi, Supermodel." Mugdha, the struggling model says at a lingerie photo shoot, "Itne paise mein itna ich milega!" When Priyanka can’t handle the success, she makes fun of her friend played by Mugdha, "It’s about attitude baby, do-chaar assignements karne se koi model nahi ban jata." And the way Kangana addresses her parasite of a boyfriend is annoying but it stays with you, "You Bast**d!" is what she ’lovingly calls him.

Yuvvraaj: Now this movie is bad but the amateurish dialogues will help you and your friends have a laugh over how silly the movie is. Sample these gems. Katrina tells Salman, "Jisne apne baap ko barah saal se sapne mein bhi na dekha ho, woh beta nahi, hardcore anti-family man hai," then there is Zayed shouting in the middle of nowhere and that too in Hindi, "Please koi meri madad karo, mujhe chhod ke mat jao," Salman telling Anil, "Drink beer with those who are dear and bring them near" and Salman’s mama telling him, "Well done my son" to which Salman replies, "Well done toh abhi hua hai, done done abhi baki hai." And we can’t figure the sense in it at all!

Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye: Dibakar Banerjee’s Abhay Deol starrer may not have done well but it is one heck of a laugh riot. Some memorable dialogues are: Abhay Deol telling the media why he is arrested, "Main toh bahar football khel raha tha, unhone (the police) kaha ki andar aake khel lo," the deceptive Paresh Rawal butters thief Abhay Deol, "aap jaise log hi India ka future hai," a TV host complaining about the effect of Sansani on his life, "Main yeh sansani kehne se thak gaya hu. Jab meri biwi poochti hai ki khana kaise hai, mere moo se nikalta hai Sansani!" Abhay talking about a dog he has stolen, "High society ka dog hai, zara pyaar se bulao" and of course, "Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye!"

Bachna Ae Haseeno: Bachna ae Haseeno may not be a great film but it was surely very entertaining with YRF making digs at their own films. Here are some dialogues we remember: Ranbir making fun of classic romantic film DDLJ, "Badi boring picture thi, main toh so gaya tha. Kya hua tha usme?," when Ranbir and his friend make a plan for Bips to dump him by calling strippers to his house and he says, "Happy Independence Day" (the film released on 15 August this year), Hiten’s reaction to Deepika being a taxi driver, "Tum ek taxi driver ko leke aaye ho? Intelligent toh mera watchman bhi hai" and Ranbir telling Deepika in the end: "Main tumhare saath hamesha rehna chahta hu, yeh naya wala forever nahi, forever wala forever."

Rock On: Farhan Akhtar dished out some unforgettable one-liners in Dil Chahta Hai so how is it possible that the dialogues of Rock On will be any less? Here are some: Farhan telling Purab, "KD, iss band mein koi takeover nahi Karega, issi liye band ka naam Magik hai!", Prachi says she doesn’t know what’s going on in Farhan’s heart, so Koel replies, "Uske dil mein stock market ki rates hi milengi!", Farhan arguing with Prachi saying, "Haan maine zindagi mein koi compromises ki hai par compromise kaun nahi karta", Purab joking with Luke when he says he has taken some pills, "Waise aaj raat mein free hu!" and welcoming Arjun on stage in the end, "Please welcome mera Bhai, mera Dost and Magik’s lead guitarist, Joe Mascarenhas!"

Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na: Jaane tu was a formula film filled with funny dialogues. My favourite is the way Prateik addresses Imran, "Ek tu achha dikta nahi, do tu gareeb hai, teen to aisa gayega, toh kaunsi ladki tujhko pasand karegi Jay?" Imran replies, "Koi gareeb, badsoorat ladki mil hi jaayegi jo mujhse bhi bura gaati ho!" Then there is Genelia’s dialogue, "Jay tu mere liye ek tough ladka dhoond aur mein tere liye ek stupid, silly, romantic ladki dhoondti hoon," and Naseeruddin Shah’s favourite phrase, "you can take the Rathore out of Ranjhore but you can never take out the Ranjhore out of a Rathore", the way Ratna Pathak asserts when she sees Imran’s Jay riding a horse in the end "Woh mere pati ka beta tha" and the song which Imran sings in his tuneless voice, "Tere mujhse hai pehla ka naata koi, yuhi nahi dil lubhata koi, jaane tuuu, ya jaaane na, maane tuu, yaa maane naaa…"

Race: The most plot-less yet fast paced and fun movie of the year had some corny, pretending-to-be-deep dialogues. Like Akshaye commenting, "yeh toh bahut hasta hai" to which Saif ’cleverly’ replies, "Jo aadmi hasta bahut hai, who rota bhi bahut hai" and Katrina crying over Saif’s ’murder’, "Woh mere boss hi nahi, woh mere husband the!", Saif summing up his ’bond’ with Akshaye in the end, "Hum dono main fark sirf itna hai ki mein jeetne ke liye khelta hu aur tun mujhe harane ke liye khelte ho"

Here are Bollywood’s most good looking vegetarians

Growing up eating vegetables off your dinner plate was never a fun idea! But with more and more Bollywood stars announcing their support for maintaining a vegetarian lifestyle, eating veggies has definitely become a lot more appetizing

Amitabh Bachchan

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is a strict vegetarian. In fact he has been voted the Hottest Vegetarian Alive by PETA thrice! Mr. Bachchan is a vegetarian by choice and loves like aloo puri, pakodas, dhoklas, parathas and gulab jamuns. He also likes Chinese and Italian food.

John Abraham

This hunky actor is a hard-core vegetarian. John gave up meat after seeing chicken farms outside Mumbai. He is also against the horse-riders at Juhu Beach. He doesn’t smoke and drink either.

Shahid Kapoor

Shahid Kapoor turned vegetarian a few years back after reading an article book on the ill-effects of eating meat. As a result the actor who is very passionate about his health and lifestyle now prefers dal and paneer over chicken and fish!

Kareena Kapoor

In 2006, Kapoor declared that she would turn vegetarian in order to keep her weight in check. But the truth of the matter is that Bebo owes her liking to vegetables to ex-beau Shahid Kapoor. And it looks like this new lifestyle is working wonders for the actress as she was declared the Cutest Vegetarian.

Esha Deol

Dhoom girl, Esha Deol, won the title of The Hottest Vegetarian Alive in 2002. She draws her inspiration for a vegetarian lifestyle from mom Hema Malini who is a strict vegetarian too.

Amrita Rao

Amrita Rao says she loves Mangalorean food like coconut-based gravies and Thai food when abroad but as long as they contain vegetables! Amrita has been a vegetarian for almost 10 years now.

Imran Khan is returning the favour for Aamir Khan

Imran-K

His mamu Aamir Khan ensured a grand launch for him in Bollywood. Now, Imran Khan is returning the favour.

The young lad is not charging a penny for Aamir’s next home production Delhi Belly , in which Imran plays the lead role. The movie is currently on the floors. Imran says his decision to do ‘Delhi Belly’ for free is a ‘thank you gesture’ to Aamir who launched him in the superhit Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na earlier this year.

True it is that Aamir went a great extent to promote the film and make sure it is widely accepted by the audiences. Imran says no producer would do that for his actors what Aamir did for him.

Not just doing the film for free, Imran is not letting himself be treated as a star on the sets of ‘Delhi Belly’. He travels economy class with the film’s crew and expects no special comforts that others in the unit don’t have.

Working in ‘Delhi Belly’ is more like a homecoming for Imran after doing two films - Kidnap and Luck - with outside banners.

Aamir Khan has just found himself another fan among filmmakers

ak

Aamir Khan has just found himself another fan among filmmakers. The softspoken and gentle Tamil-Telugu director A.R Murugadoss who has made what is unarguably one of the most violent films of our times, is completely enamoured of Aamir’s creative faculties.

In fact the simple and honest director who has earlier made four highly successful films in Tamil and Telugu openly acknowledges that Aamir re-constructed the entire climax of Ghajini to make it more contemporary and palatable to a cosmopolitan audience.

"We didn’t make too many changes in the rest of the film. Every time I’d suggest a change in Ghajini from the original, Aamir would firmly cut it down saying we should stick to the Tamil script.

But he decided we should rewrite the entire climax. The entire location, incidents and dialogues for the Climax were re-written by Aamir. I think the Hindi version is far better than the Tamil Ghajini because of the changes that Aamir made."

Whatever Murugadoss makes next (and the offer will crystallize after the year-ending week) Murugadoss has only one wish.

"I want Aamir to be my consultant. Ghajini in Hindi would’ve been impossible without him. What he did to the climax was amazing. Now whatever I make I want Aamir’s guidance. I don’t know Hindi at all.

But I knew the meaning of the Tamil words and groped my way through the Hindi dialogues in Ghajini. Every time I was stuck on a word or line I’d call up Aamir. I’ve learnt so much from him, " says the litterateur-turned-filmmaker who has several short -story anthologies in Tamil to his credit.

Though many people in Mumbai feel the title role of the villain in Ghajini should have been played by a better-known actor Murugadoss is happy with Pradeep Rawat. "He is not entirely unknown in Hindi cinema. He played the the Sardarji in Lagaan."

Murugadoss admits he felt a little out of place in Mumbai initially. "But today a filmmaker is not restricted to any one region. Ghajini has gone so smoothly from Tamil to Hindi. Now I want to take a break, visit my native town Kallakurichi near Chennai and come back to sign my second Hindi film."

Next Murugadoss wants to direct a totally non-violent film in Hindi. "My next Hindi film will be an out-and-out love story. There won’t be even a slap in the narrative. I’ve acquired the reputation of being a violent director. But apart from Ghajini all my films are soft and gentle."

Sushmita Sen is set to play a pivotal role in Kamal Haasan film

Sushmit

If the buzz is to be believed, Sushmita Sen is set to play a pivotal role in Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan’s next film Marmayogi .

Even as Sush has put her own home production, a biopic on Rani Laxmibai, on the backburner, she has reportedly been approached by Kamal Haasan for his period drama ‘Marmayogi’, which will star a host of actresses.

The movie was supposed to go on the floors in the last quarter of this year, but kept on getting postponed for reasons better known to Haasan himself. Now, Haasan is learnt to have finalized Sush to play the role of a warrior.

Sush has apparently seen Haasan’s last film Dasavatharam and liked it a lot. She is reportedly very keen to act with Haasan, who is one of the most talented stars of Kollywood.

Sushmita is also getting more active in Bollywood. After neglecting her career for over a year, the demure dame is now signing films. Her next release would be Dulha Mil Gaya which had been stuck on the floors for well over a year but has now been shot completely. She is also doing a comedy film called Do Knot Disturb .

Always knew that Shah Rukh Khan was a good friend

farhan01

Everything that Farhan Akhtar attempts is turning out to be a big success, and one more example of that is his latest foray into the world of television, the innovative and interesting show, OYE, IT’S FRIDAY. The show is notching up good TRP’s and getting praises from all who have seen it. But can you guess who was Farhan’s advisor about how things work in the world of television?

Well, it was none other than Farhan’s good friend, Shah Rukh Khan, who is a veteran in the matters pertaining to the small screen. The director, and now hit actor-cum-singer and additionally the successful host of a popular show had called up SRK to seek his advise on money matters (how much to charge for the show). The super-star not only spoke to him about money matters but also gave him make up tips for OYE, IT’S FRIDAY and in particular the small screen, which is very different from the way it is applied in films. Needless to add that Farhan was all ears and he paid heed to the advice given to him, and the result can be seen in the show.

Always knew that Shah Rukh Khan was a good friend, just like the saying - A friend in need is a friend indeed!

Asin's LONDON DREAMS confirmed for Next Independence Day

salman khan and asin in london dreams

Till some time back, most producers used to time their releases around the two major festivals -- Diwali and Idd. Then Christmas and Valentine’s Day celebrations were included. Later, Republic Day (26th January) and now Independence Day (15th August) holidays are also being eyed by producers and distributors.

Last year, Vipul Shah released his ambitious venture SINGH IS KINNG on 8th August, a week before the Independence Day. This year, he is targeting the Independence Day weekend for his next mega venture LONDON DREAMS. The film is confirmed for 14th August release.

While on Vipul Shah, a section of the media has reported that Ranbir Kapoor has refused to star in his next venture.

"A section of the media loves to make stories and the worst part is, they don’t even have the courtesy to clarify whether it’s true or false. As for my next venture, it’s with Akshay Kumar and not Ranbir Kapoor.

I haven’t approached Ranbir in the first place and I’m sure, even he wouldn’t agree to star in a film that has Akshay enacting the main lead," Vipul states. Point noted!

Ranbir in the very important role of Akki-Ash's son

31look2

Ranbir Kapoor is undoubtedly B-Town hot property. The busy actor is preparing simultaneously for three projects currently- ’Rajnithi’, ’Wake Up Sid’ and ’Ajab Prem Ki Kahani’.

So much so that he had no time to read Vipul Shah’s script which he’s penning with his favourite Akshay Kumar in mind.

Sources say that Vipul Shah who wanted to make a fantasy film this time zeroed in on the Hollywood hit ’Action Replay’.

Michael J. Fox played the lead in the original version. The film centers on Marty McFly, a teenager who is unexpectedly sent back and forth in time of present-past-future and meets his parents at his high-school days.

He’s sent back in time from 1985 to 1955 and also accidentally attracts his mother’s romantic interest. Marty must repair the damage to history by causing his parents to fall in love, while finding a way to return to 1985.

Akshay Kumar dons the lead role while Aishwarya Rai is the female lead opposite him.

Vipul Shah wanted Ranbir in the very important role of Akki-Ash’s son. But since Ranbir is so busy with his three projects and another one with Mani Rathnam, he had to turn him down.

If all goes well for the film, this indeed will be a big opportunity lost by Ranbir.

Bollywood`s `Copycats` Movies of The Year 2008

Often we say off late that Bollywood is in an evolving stage and that Indian cinema is going places. Hindi films are getting more recognition across the globe and our filmmaking standards have advanced immensely. But have our filmmaking standards actually advanced? We might have gone high on budgets, techniques, SFX, adrenaline action, sex and violence, story-telling patterns, et al. But the basic crux of a film remains its story. And when it comes to the grass-root level, we are still on a creative bankruptcy.

Just for instance almost every third film released in 2008 was directly lifted or in milder terms inspired, derived or loosely based on some other film. That original source could either be some foreign film and in some cases movies from our own country copying South films and at times also yesteryear Hindi films. One of the year’s biggest grosser, ’Race’ was simply lifted from the Hollywood flick ’Goodbye Lover’ . Abbas-Mustan have seldom been original and with ’Race’ they continued their legacy of blatant plagiarism.

Rakesh Roshan’s ’Krazzy 4’ was a shoddy remake of the Micheal Keaton starrer ’The Dream Team’ while it was common knowledge that the Amitabh-Salman starrer ’God Tussi Great Ho’ was lifted from ’Bruce Almighty’ . Both the Mallika Sherawat starrers were lifted from foreign sources. ’Ugly Aur Pagli’ was a frame-to-frame copy of a Korean film ’Yeopgijeogin Geunyeo’ (English title: My Sassy Girl) while ’Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam’ was derived from Mel Brook’s ’To Be Or Not To Be’ which in turn was a remake of a 1942 film of the same name. While both the English films were nominated at the Oscars, the Indian version can surely win a Razzie.

Despite being evidently derived from a yesteryear Hindi film ’Aaj Ki Taaza Khab ar’, the makers of ’Golmaal Returns’ kept denying the fact. Not to forget Rohit Shetty’s ’Sunday’ was a remake of a Telugu film ’Anukokunda Oka Raju’ . Irrfan Khan was funny in ’Dil Kabaddi’ but one cannot laugh off the fact that it was a remake of Woody Allen’s ’Husbands and Wives’ . Rajshri looked for reference in their own library while remaking their old film ’Tapasya’ as Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi .

T-Series decided to officially remake Subhash Ghai’s ’Karz ’ despite the fact that a version of the film was already hit amongst the audiences in the form of ’Om Shanti Om’ . While Lindsay Lohan’s ’Just My Luck’ can just be tagged as the kick-off point for ’Kismet Konnection’ , the year also saw its remake in the form of Good Luck . For the second half of ’Singh is Kinng’ where Akshay Kumar poses Kirron Kher as a wealthy woman, Anees Bazmee has essentially derived the premise from Frank Capra’s ’Lady for a Day’ which he himself remade as ’A Pocketful of Miracles’ later and was subsequently also remade by Jackie Chan as ’Ji Ji’ .

Samar Khan clearly took the plot of the Tom Cruise - Jack Nicholson starrer ’A Few Good Men’ for his courtroom drama ’Shaurya’ and Indianized it with a victimized Muslim angle. The same conflict was applied to ’Aamir’ which was derived from a Filipino film ’Cavite’ . ’Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ director Abbas Tyrewala sketched the characters of ’De Taali’ loosely based on the English sitcom ’Dawson’s Creek’ . Priyadarshan continued his custom of quick Malayalam remakes for ’Mere Baap Pehle Aap’ which originated from ’Ishtam’ . Randeep Hooda - Shahana Goswami’s Ru-ba-ru was a blatant face-off of ’If Only’ . Anant Mahadevan acknowledged that his Minissha Lamba starrer ’Anamika’ was an adaptation of ’Rebecca’ .

Then there were some films which you would not want to categorize as remakes but certainly they borrowed references from others. Ajay Devgan’s directorial touch to ’U Me aur Hum’ was magical but one can’t avoid drawing parallels with films like ’The Notebook’ and ’50 First Dates’ . Though not as effective, the Salman Khan - Anil Kapoor brotherly bonding in ’Yuvvraaj’ was derived from the Tom Cruise - Dustin Hoffman chemistry in the Oscar winner ’Rain Man’ . The motivation to pose as gays in ’Dostana’ was somewhat suggestive of Adam Sandler’s ’I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry’ though otherwise the films were different. And though Aamir would claim that ’Ghajini’ is an official remake of the Tamil film and has nothing to do with ’Memento’, the Polaroid camera and body tattoos have a different story to say.

Lets See What Has 2009 In Store For The Bollywood Stars

aish

Numerologically, the year 2009 (2 + 0 + 0 + 9 = 11 = 1 + 1 = 2 ) will come under the dominance of Number 2 - the Moon (chandra ). Number 2 is directly linked with Number 7 (Neptune ) & hence they always go hand in hand. Considered to be one of the most ‘creatively’ powerful numbers, all persons born on dates 2, 11, 20 or 29 of any month are ruled by the Moon. People born under the zodiac sign of Cancer / Kark rashi (20th June - 20th July ) or whose destiny number add up to Number 2 are also ruled by the Moon, although indirectly. e.g. 16 November, 1973 (1 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 3 = 29 = 2 + 9 = 11 = 1 + 1 = 2 ). No prizes for guessing that the year 2009 will belong to them.

Stars who fall in such category are :-

Aishwarya Rai (1st Nov. 1973 ) :- The Bachchan bahu is ruled by No.1 (Sun ), No.9 (Mars Negative - Scorpio ) & No. 5 (Mercury - 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 3 = 23 = 5 ) indicating a strong ‘mangal’ in her birth chart.

Currently in her 36th year, Ash should try and strike a fine balance between her professional and personal life else she will be drained by the end of the year. Wearing a Red Coral will definitely help keep her blood pressure under control. Chances of ‘good news’ are bright and can be expected soon.

Hrithik Roshan (10th Jan. 1974 ) :- Hrithik is primarily ruled by the Sun (No.1 ). Being a Capricorn he is also ruled by No.8 (Saturn ) and his destiny number adds to No. 5 (1 + 0 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 4 = 23 = 5 ).

He will enter his 36th year soon (3 + 6 = 9 ). Since Number 9 is one of his weakest numbers, he is likely to have some health problems especially blood related. He is advised to wear a Red Coral. His big release ‘Kites’ adds up to No.15 (1 + 5 = 6 ) which is one of his strongest numbers. Expect fireworks at the box office.

Ranbir Kapoor (28th Sept. 1982 ) :- Ranbir comes under the direct influence of No.1 (Sun ), is also ruled by Nos. 6 & 8 (Venus & Saturn - Libra ) and No.3 (Jupiter - 2 + 8 + 9 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 2 = 39 = 3 + 9 = 12 = 1 + 2 = 3 ).

Currently in his 27th year, it is not a bad phase of his life but still not the best one either. He should always add his father initial ‘R’ to his name. Wearing a Diamond will also help.

Katrina Kaif (July 16, 1984 ) :- This ‘kool kat’ is ruled by Nos.2 & 7 (Moon & Neptune ) twice & No.9 (Mars ). She will continue delivering hit after hit this year as well atleast till July.

Her compatibility with Salman is strictly okay & she should rather focus on her career as of now. She should spell her name as KATRINNA KAIF or KATREENA KAIF for a much longer & better innings. Wearing a Pearl will help her cope with anger & insomnia problem.

Shah Rukh Khan (November 2, 1965 ) :- Influenced by Nos. 2 & 7 (Moon & Neptune ) and No.9 (Scorpio - ruler Mars ), SRK has entered his 44th year (4 + 4 = 8 ) which is ‘not so good’ news for him in terms of his health.

His family life will improve tremendously & he will be surrounded by his near & dear ones all year round. Suddenly the people around him will discover his ’spiritual side’ this year.

WE WISH A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009 TO ALL THE BOLLYWOOD STARS

Shah Rukh Khan is foraying into television production

shahruk

Shah Rukh Khan-promoted Red Chillies Entertainment is foraying into television production by January 2009.The company is in talks with several general entertainment channels and has finalised an agreement with NDTV Imagine headed by Sameer Nair.An email sent to SRK elicited no response.

But an executive with the company said: “We are in the process of setting up our TV division and forming a serious business plan. We are in talks with several entertainment channels for making TV software. In addition, we expect to announce several agreements with various channels for developing shows.” A company spokesperson refused to comment on investment details.

SRK picked up a stake in BAG Glamour early this year in his personal capacity along with wife Gauri Khan. BAG Glamour is a subsidiary of BAG Films, under which the company launched an entertainment channel. NDTV Imagine CEO Sameer Nair confirmed the development.

Bollywood's Best Movie Of The Year 2008

1482580

It’s not often that we get to say ‘Thank God It’s Friday’. (No, not the restaurant, the day.) How can we when most films that release on that much-awaited day are not worth the cost of the popcorn?

So when the few that do live up to the hype, that make us cheer instead of hoot and are, simply put, total paisa vasoolcome our way we have to doff our hats to them.

1482574

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

Shah Rukh Khan in a geeky hairstyle and moustache. Aditya Chopra’s great return after Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. So we were willing to overlook the fact that King Khan’s heroines are getting younger with every passing year. Moreover, earnest performances and the humour that permeates the film make up for a story that lacks conviction.

148257401

Ghajini

If Shah Rukh Khan sported a six pack in Om Shanti Om, Aamir Khan was determined to go two up. A year’s hard work got him a body Arnold Schwarzenegger would envy-with the requisite eight packs firmly in place. But we don’t like the movie just because we’d like to slice up Aamir and have him for dessert-we like it for the gripping story, the fantastic action and the amazing acting.

148257402

Rock On!!

It was almost like That Thing You Do, but it wasn’t, too. What it was was crazy fun and foot tapping music. We hand it to Farhan Akhtar-the man can work it behind the camera and in front of it, too.

148257403

Welcome to Sajjanpur

Shreyas Talpade went rustic. Amrita Rao exchanged her tank tops for cholis. And together they created ‘simple’ magic. We were left asking why directors can’t KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) anymore.

1482575

Jodhaa Akbar

It was conceived on a large scale-both on screen as well as on the clock. But we loved the imagination and the courage that it took to go the historical way when everyone said nay. The chemistry between Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai was just the cherry on top.

148257501

Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na

After mamu Aamir’s Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, it took nephew Imran Khan to make us long for the halcyon days of college. The formulaic climax of an airport scene aside, everything else found an echo in us-right from Pappu to the funeral for a cat.

148257502

Khuda Ke Liye

It takes a lot to criticise your country. And when your country is Pakistan, it takes much more than normal. But Shoaib Mansoor did just that and the result took both India and Pakistan by storm.

148257503

Bhoothnath

Now, who wouldn’t want to see Big B as a ghost. Instead of talking to a mirror, he can now walk through them! But this take on Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost grabbed us because of the chemistry between Amitabh Bachchan and the tiny tot Aman Siddiqui.

1482576

Bachna Ae Haseeno

In a film named as a tribute to father Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir was the show stealer. Despite his three sexy co-stars-Miniisha Lamba, Bipasha Basu and Deepika Padukone. Not only did it script an interesting and refreshing story, it also had some great performances.

148257601

10Aamir

Our reviewer said, “Finally, a film that one can blindly recommend after a cascade of disasters.” And we agree. Rajeev Khandelwal surprised us with his mastery over acting and the suspenseful story did the rest.

148257602

Summer 2007

It’s about a group of friends, medicine and farmer suicides. A strange combo? But then strange bedfellows make for interesting storytelling.

Mumbai Meri Jaan

A film meant to tug on the heartstrings, it lived up to expectations. Based on the Mumbai train blasts, it unravels the story through the lives of six different people. Though a little like an Indianised version of Crash, it still managed to make us cry.

After dancing his way into the audience’s heart with beautiful performances in many hit films, and mostly solo, Shahid is still not contented. He is working very hard in order to justify the characters that he is portraying in his forthcoming films. And the two films that he is giving his undivided attention to are Vishal Bhardwaj’s KAMINAY and Ken Ghosh’s YAHOO.

News is that Shahid, already a proficient dancer, is learning a new International dance form for Ken Ghosh’s YAHOO, where he is playing the role of a dancer. The dance style is called ’Krumping’ (a kind of street dance form that originated in Los Angeles) and Shahid is a totally dedicated student!

Marty, a choreographer of International repute, who is famous for the music videos of renowned pop star, Justin Timberlake, has been roped in for YAHOO. So, one can expect some exciting dance sequences of International standard in the film.

While on YAHOO, the film is now complete, after a re-shoot, which went on for about four days. There was news that Ken Ghosh was not happy with the performance of the lead female artist Jiah Khan and hence the re-shoot. Shahid being a thorough gentleman refused to agree with the rumour saying that it was necessary and a request by the director that had to be complied with.

We believe you Shahid and are already looking forward to see you dance into our hearts once again with YAHOO.

Numerologist predicts what 2009 holds for our top Bollywood stars

Numerologist Sanjay B Jumaani predicts what 2009 holds for our top Bollywood stars and how their movies will work at the box-office.Check what he has to say about them:

Shah Rukh Khan
The Badshah of Bollywood may not have a great year health-wise. He’s in his 44th year, which adds up to 8, representing Saturn (Shani). Unfortunately, it doesn’t augur well for King Khan as 8 has not worked well for him in the past.

Hrithik Roshan
Hrithik is in his 35th year and will soon be 36. However, 9 is not one of his best numbers. In fact, 9 of Mars can make a person impulsive and accident-prone, so he better watch out instead of playing superhero! A very potent combination rules him, so he should avoid multi-starrers and take up work that has him in the lead. He and his father should make more films together as all their three films were huge hits.

Salman Khan
He is governed by number 9, the fiery Mars (Mangal), the planet of energy, which makes a person impetuous, accident-prone, stubborn and inflexible. His comeback vehicles - Tere Naam and Partner - add up to 9. His girlfriend Katrina’s destiny number is 9. She’s a water sign (Cancerian) and he’s an Earth sign, and these signs usually go well together. So, he should lie low this year as he could be subject to defamation, scandal and false accusations. In 2010, he’ll be 45, one of his best years, and marriage could be on the cards. But if he marries Katrina, she should brace against his fiery outbursts.

Saif Ali Khan
Saif is in his 39th year, adding to 3, which is Jupiter, planet of wealth. Though his girlfriend Kareena (a number 3) hasn’t married him yet, Saif can still expect to have a fortunate year, especially after his 40th birthday as 4 is one of his luckier numbers.

Akshay Kumar
The Khiladi will remain in his 42nd year till September 9 next year and it will be an eventful year. His name as well as the year 2008 adds to 28, which was also why it was so good for him. Chandni Chowk To China is expected to do well too, along with 8+10, which gives us 9 again.

Abhishek Bachchan
Junior AB is currently in his 33rd year and 6 is among his favoured numbers. However, on February 5, he’ll enter his 34th year (7), which is neither good nor bad for him. Delhi 6 is spelt so instead of Dilli 6 on our behest and adds to 6 too, so it should do him well. We’d always maintained that ABCL won’t do well under Big B as his numbers are not conducive to business; however, it stands a better chance under Abhishek.

Katrina Kaif
Katrina is a number 7, ruled by Neptune and the Moon, planets that endow imagination and creativity. She is doubly influenced by these planets as they govern Cancerians. The flipside is they can make her restless and moody. She’s now in her 25th year (7). So, this could be one of her best years.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Her name adds to 50 or 5, which is the same as AB Baby’s. So, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that she rules him! In Mani Ratnam’s Raavan, she can expect to get rave reviews, and maybe even outdo Abhishek. She can make a good brand ambassador for India. After she turns 37, her entry into politics could also not be ruled out. Aishwarya should try to focus on doing foreign films; Hollywood is a good option too.

Akshay Kumar is a loving husband

340x

Akshay Kumar is a loving husband, so what if he charges the poor producers 9 crores for a mere dubbing job even when the world economy is down in the dumps. Look what nice things he does with all the money. He pays heavy income tax to the Indian government and keeps his wife happy… Thats perhaps the greatest achievement for any Indian man - because these two things are literally impossible to achieve for many Indian men.

He decided to gift her a lavish Bentley Car worth 3 crore to his wifey dear on her birthday on 29th December. Apparently he spent so much for her because he was extremely proud of her and wanted to give her the best of everything because he owes his success to her.

Apparently he handed the car keys to his wife before he flew off to Hong Kong for Christmas Show. Twinkle was overwhelmed with joy we heard.
